Advanced Literary Analysis
What it does...
Designed to improve a student’s ability to read, process an author’s message, and connect this message to the world around them, this option serves as a supplement to stretch your understanding of literature. This is intended for students looking to take their reading ability to the next level. It will help to prepare students for the more intense and rigorous demands of collegiate courses.
Timing
Typically running five weeks, these sessions will focus on improving your ability to analyze literature.
Structure
Planning Meeting – We begin by taking an assessment of what skills you already have and where you think you need improvement. We then develop a plan to improve your literary analysis toolkit. Each session will likely focus on the development of a different literary tool.
Pre-Tutoring Communication – Before the session, we will have a brief exchange via text or email about topic for discussion. This will often have a short passage to examine that will support our actual tutoring session.
Tutoring Session – We will spend the session talking about the passage, how an author uses the tool, and practice analyzing other examples of the literary tool.
